The Build Process: Crafting Our Western Crokinole Boards

Our games are not only fun to play, but also beautiful to behold. Here’s how that happens…

1. We begin with the highest quality architectural plywood available. The flatness and machinability of this material is key to producing the best boards possible, so we are very selective.

2. After being cut into 24” square blanks, they are first branded, then precision cut using state of the art CNC technology.

3. Color is carefully added using the finest bio-based, eco friendly, UV protectant epoxies on the market, then it’s back to the CNC for some final machining.

4. Once the last cut is complete, the boards are then sanded to perfection and hand finished over the course of weeks.

5. To finish the boards, we use a special blend of oils to bring out the unique grain patterns, as well as protect and ensure years of quality play.

6. After the finish has properly cured, a few coats of spray wax are applied and buffed.

7. Finally, we add bumpers to the top, feet to the bottom, and take pictures.

See it in action…
